Day 5 and things are going great!
This morning after a brief power-nap I got up to find progress had slowed a bit in the early morning hours. The crew had slimmed out some and there were not enough volunteers for the AM shifts. On top of that we came to find out that the measurements for the windows and doors were wrong.

However in no time things picked up, and volunteers began to arrive. We made an emergency call to local radio stations for carpenters, they showed up, and we were back in business. My hard working crew made the adjustments needed and we were good to go.

Today we finished the roof in good order, along with the rough-in electrical, rough-in plumbing, rough-in heating and air (I want to send out a special thanks to Mark Borum Plumbing and Heating Air for all their efforts!). My friends over at Crittenden Drywall wowed our crowd of spectators as they completed all the drywall for this project hours ahead schedule.

This really is an inspiration to me to see so many crews, and even companies that otherwise would not have the chance to work together coming together for this project i.e. the amazing job the multiple siding teams did on this project working in conjunction to make this whole thing possible.

We are Jean Lucas's parents.  We were at the build site for several hours each day during construction and were extremely impressed with the efficiency with which this home -straight out of Michael and Jean's dreams -  turned into a beautiful reality.  We are, of course, thrilled with the end result.  We are, though, equally impressed and awed by the love and pride that were exhibited by the contractors and volunteers on this project.  As amazing as it was to see the house go up in under a week, we feel so blessed to have been able to be a part of this special community project.  Seeing people turn out in huge numbers and work tirelessly for hours and hours at a time to selflessly do something just for the good of others was just remarkable.
Thank you Ken Broadwater Homes and the droves of wonderful volunteers and a special thanks to Joni James for sticking so beautifully to the feel that the Lucas's wanted for their home.

I can't even imagine the wonderful joy you all must have in being part of this project.  What a wonderful thing to do.  My brother Richard Partusch works for Creative Electrical Contractors, what a wonderful and compassionate boss he has to have given them the opportunity to do something as great as this.  You all deserve lots of thanks and praise.

To T. Martin,
I hope you are o.k. from the car accident.  Did you make it the next day to the site?  It's wonderful to see so many people come together and work so hard.  What a wonderful state and community we live in!!  Happy Holidays to everyone!

I have known Jean Lucas since birth as her family's neighbor on Lees Ridge Road in Warrenton. I wish to extend my thanks to all involved in this project. How special you are to volunteer. What a spirit of generosity and kindness  YOU have exhibited. God Bless You and a Happy Holiday Season to you and your families. Thank you for sharing  your time.

I am a first grade teacher and my class is very excited to hear about the daily events. They can't wait until the bus is moved! I will be there in person to report to them. The class also wants to send a message to Michael to thank him for serving our country.

I was there Thursday Night to cheer on my husband Jason and all the other guys putting siding on the house. They did an amazing job. It is such a blessing to have workers from all around come together for one cause. Keep up the good work and God Bless.

I wish to thank everyone involved.  What makes this so special and great is it is a life changing experience.  When something like this happens to a family it turns their life around, so much so that they are likely to spread it around, thus the gift multiplies.  A good deed or small gift is appreciated but often forgotten about quickly.  When your whole life is changed for the better, you never forget, always thankful, and more willing to reach out to others.  Thanks and God bless to Everyone!
