Construction Has Begun!
Today is Wednesday and we’ve begun construction. We’re all so excited, and things really seem to be taking shape.

Early this morning we had what the production crew call the “braveheart” march, and it was awesome. Accented by the beautiful snow our team marched up Bradshaw Farm Rd. in a triumphant display of enthusiasm!

Construction officially started today, kicking off with demolition we quickly moved into the framing of the house, and in just over 10 hours we’re already at the point where we’re ready to put on the roof.

Thanks to all the awesome contractors and volunteers who labored so tirelessly, and are still laboring into the cold night. We were overwhelmed by the enormous show of support from the local Community. Please continue to support us through your volunteering efforts!

*And a special thanks as well to all our food vendors who kept us fed (Café Diem, Perrin’s Bar-Be-Que, and our friends at Fat Daddy’s!) and warm (Thanks to the Madhatter and the Daily Grind for all great hot beverages, that just kept on coming!).*

Ken Broadwater was so awesome! I was so impressed how well he handled all the pressure that comes from a project like this! I enjoyed meeting the whole 'Broadwater Clan'! Blessings to all of you! This was an experience of a lifetime!

Ken & Laura...

Thank you for requesting my Dad's (Red Heis) help with this project!!!  I know he is truly honored to have such a significant role there. I would love to be there with him...what an awesome opportunity to give back to a fellow Military member.  I intended on taking leave to come help out...but it was just not possible at this time.
I check the website constantly - reviewing the pictures, monitoring the progress...and, Yes, hoping to see a pic or two of Red - doing his thing!!!
I look forward to him showing me the place next time I am come to visit Powhatan...
Thanks for all you're doing there!!!
Take care...God Bless America...
and all who serve this great Nation!!!

I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN THE ORDER TO SHIP BRICK TO THIS EVENT CAME ACROSS MY DESK.  I AM A HUGE FAN OF EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER, I WATCH IT EVERY SUNDAY NIGHT WITH MY SONS.  GOD BLESS ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT!!

Ken, It's really exciting to see you involved in this, and what a blessing it must be to the family!!  I wish I could come out and help, but my father - who has terminal cancer - had to be rushed to the emergency room on Monday.  He's now under hospice care and it's not looking very hopeful & I need to stay close by.

Anyway I hope you guys stay safe, and I'm looking forward to getting ours started!
